No sun, but still; coffee table on trial in the sitting room.

Easy like Tuesday morning

Later we made a trip to Emmaus and came away with some treasure

A coffee table and stool
20 golf balls
Playing cards
A mirror
And a book on a special kind of Japanese flower arranging

- which reminded me of this, in our old flat.

More thrifty pics when the sun comes out again.

Saw this interesting article about holiday photography in G2 today.

And another one by Martin Parr.

Saturday Brunch

Not really brunch if you eat it at 2.30, but anyway...this morning a nestful of Blue Tits fledged from under the thatch just outside our bedroom window. Six or seven of them swung around from the branches of the trees (that are planted way too close to the house) for about five minutes like baubles on a christmas tree, and then they were gone. I didn't dare move to get a camera (they were about 8 ft from me) and a photo wouldn't have done it justice anyway. A fleeting, special, but at the same time, ordinary thing. (Bit like being with a baby really)

History - my trail today

N hadn't slept much today and there was a lot of work to do round the house, as well as a visit to a locksmith and a trip to update my driving licence, so I was looking forward to an hour this evening with a glass of wine and my laptop.
Here's the trail:

Emma Bradshaw (found via Snailtrail)

A Cup of Jo (link to baby clothes website Kumquat and a brown terry all-in-one)

Varpunen

Hei Astrid (a very stylish granny blanket and a link to Norsk Stil)

Camp Comfort (a link to Monki )

Mmmmm

N approves of I's snack choice (Melted chocolate spread with soggy banana - what would life be without big brothers!)

Night drive to Cambridge

We listened to local radio. 'Music from seven decades' said the DJ, 'something for someone' - with no hint of irony. Perfect for fenland driving :)

Complementary Colours

I put N down on the bed while I tidied their room ready for the big return (J and I have been staying with Jon's Mum and Dad in Devon), and couldn't resist the photo op. One in the bag for colour theory.

Bouncy, bouncy - the long view

The problem with (or good thing about) long views round here is that they turn into To Do lists.

1. Pull Ivy off the house
2. Investigate green patches on walls
3. Fix gate
4. Paint downpipe
5. Do some pruning
6. Plant something
7. Etc. etc.

Birthday Treat

A day at Alton Towers for Isaac's Birthday (he won the meerkat - a big one).
